Photo Services
The ITU World Triathlon San Diego will be captured in both photos and video by Marathon-Photos.com. Competitors will be able to view their finish online and order a downloadable video showing race highlights and their finish.

Challenges

All age group athletes may be eligible to compete in one of three challenges. If you are eligible, you will be ranked in both your distance /age group and in the Challenge you chose. You may only compete in ONE Challenge.

Military Challenge

Compete against fellow athletes in the armed services. To be eligible, you must be an active member or veteran of the United States Military in the divisions Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines, Coast Guard and Merchant Marine. There is no extra fee.
        Eligibility

  • Athletes must check the military challenge box on the registration form to sign up.
  • Athletes are still able to represent their multisport club in the Global Club Challenge or Collegiate Club Challenge

        Awards

  • Awards will be given to the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place for the following categories:
  • 35 and under males
  • 35 and under females
  • 36 and over males
  • 36 and over females


Global Club Challenge

Triathlon clubs of all sizes and nations will descend upon Mission Beach in sunny San Diego on May 12 to compete for the crown at the inagural Global Club Challenge. Age-group athletes vying for the right to be called the "best club in the world" will compete in the Olympic-distance race on Saturday morning. Click here for more information.

Collegiate Club Challenge
Represent the colors of your school and compete against other colleges/universities. To be eligible, you must be a current undergrad or grad student and your collegiate club must be registered as an official USA Triathlon club. Simply check the collegiate club box on the registration form and add your collegiate team name to sign up. There is no extra fee. Click here to download the official scoring program (PDF).

Physically Challenged Open Division

The physically challenged open division will be contested over the sprint distance of a 750m swim, a 26km bike and a 5km run. Athletes do NOT need to fit into the USAT Paratriathlon classifications as this division is open to anyone racing with a physical disability. Registered athletes must be 16 or older on December 31, 2012 in order to compete in the Physically Challenged Open division.

USA Triathlon Hall of Fame Banquet

USA Triathlon is proud to introduce six multisport pioneers to the 2011 USA Triathlon Hall of Fame. Triathlon legends Mark Allen, Scott Molina and Scott Tinley, who combined to win nine Ironman World Championship titles over the course of their decorated careers, highlight the fourth class of the USA Triathlon Hall of Fame. Also selected in this year's class were top age-grouper Ethel Autorino and contributors Bob Babbitt and Sally Edwards.

All six inductees will be honored at a banquet on Thursday, May 10, 2012 at the Bahia Resort Hotel in San Diego to open the ITU World Triathlon San Diego race weekend. This exclusive event, which has sold out in each of the past three years, will be limited to 250 attendees and is sold out.

Registration and Participant Policies

By registering, all athletes agree to the following registration policies:

  • There are NO REFUNDS, ROLLOVERS, DEFERALS or BIB TRANSFERS. No exceptions.
  • For the Sprint distance, the registered athlete must be 16 or older as of December 31, 2012.
  • For the Olympic distance, the registered athlete must be 18 or older as of December 31, 2012.
  • Each athlete must pick up his or her own race packet. Bikes must be racked at the communicated times. No exceptions.

All participants must wear a helmet during the race that is undamaged and unaltered. The helmet must meet or exceed the safety standards of the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC). If a participant’s helmet does not meet CPSC approval they will NOT be allowed to race. Download the CPSC guidelines here.
